Sailing for Boundless Knowledge | Trine Engineering Institute Grandly Celebrates Its Opening Ceremony for 2024 New Students

在这金风送爽、硕果盈枝的九月，陕西理工大学特莱恩工学院又迎来了一群怀揣星辰大海、渴望探索未知的新生。北京时间9月6日晚8点，特莱恩工学院2024级新生开学典礼在学校南区大礼堂隆重举行。美国特莱恩大学副校长Keirsten Eberts、高级学术总监Joshua Pranger、全球事务部主任Jenson Jiang，陕西理工大学校长、特莱恩工学院院长王磊，陕西理工大学副校长白海清，以及校团委、国际处、电气学院、机械学院、数计学院、特莱恩工学院负责人和各专业负责人，全体2024级新生共同参加了开学典礼。典礼由特莱恩工学院执行院长帅春江主持。

Enjoying this fruitful September amid cool autumn breezes, Trine Engineering Institute, Shaanxi University of Technology, is embracing a group of new students who are ambitious about exploring the unknown. At 8:00 P.M. (Beijing time) on September 6, the Opening Ceremony for 2024 new students of Trine Engineering Institute was staged in the auditorium of the Institute’s southern campus. Keirsten Eberts, Vice President, Joshua Pranger, Senior Academic Director, and Jenson Jiang, Director of Global Affairs, from Trine University, Wang Lei, President of Shaanxi University of Technology and Dean of Trine Engineering Institute, Bai Haiqing, Vice President of Shaanxi University of Technology, and the heads of the Youth League Committee and the International Affairs Office of the University, School of Electricity Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Mathematics and Computer Science, Trine Engineering Institute, and all majors, as well as all the 2024 new students attended the Ceremony. The Ceremony was presided over by Shuai Chunjiang, Executive Dean of Trine Engineering Institute.

一场别开生面的暖场序曲首先为典礼奏响了序章。从集体小合唱《如愿》的旋律中流淌出的希望与憧憬，到京剧串唱的国粹展示中蕴含的东方文化魅力，再到《灯火里的中国》对祖国繁荣富强的礼赞讴歌，展现出特莱恩学子多才多艺、报国担当的赤子情怀。

It started with a unique warm-up overture. From the hope and longing flowing from the melody of the collective chorus “As I Wish” (《如愿》), to the charm of oriental culture contained in the display of the national essence of the Peking Opera, and then to the eulogy of “China in the Lights” (《灯火里的中国》) on the prosperity and strength of the motherland, they all manifested the versatility of Trine's students and the ideal of serving the country.

The Ceremony officially opened with the majestic national anthem.

王磊首先致辞，他对特莱恩工学院的又一届追梦人表示热烈欢迎，并介绍了学院的发展历程及育人愿景。他还以师长的身份寄语全体新生：一要面对大世界-以探索者之姿，拥抱世界无限可能；二要胸怀大格局—以全球视野绘就时代华章；三要树立大理想—以梦想为帆，驶向星辰大海；四要成就大事业—以脚踏实地，砥砺前行。

First of all, Wang Lei delivered a speech, in which he warmly welcomed the new dream chasers from Trine Engineering Institute and introduced the Institute’s development history and vision of educating people. He also sent a message to all the new students as a teacher: First, they should aim for the big world - to embrace the infinite possibilities of the world as an explorer. Second, they should have a big picture in mind - to draw a chapter of the times with a global vision. Third, they should aim high - to sail far with dreams. Fourth, they should seek a big cause –to move forward through hardships.

Keirsten Eberts在大洋彼岸通过视频连线的方式，向大家致以诚挚的祝福，介绍了特莱恩大学的历史与文化和在国际教育领域的重要成就，强调了两校合作的重要意义，表达了对新生的热烈欢迎与美好祝愿。

Keirsten Eberts sent her sincere wishes to all present by video from across the ocean and introduced the history and culture of Trine University and its major fruits in international education. At the same time, she underscored the significance of the cooperation between the two universities and extended her warm welcome and good wishes to the new students.

Jenson Jiang从发展历史、硬件建设、教育教学、就业特色等方面对特莱恩大学做深入介绍，并详细阐述了特莱恩大学的教学理念和国际合作项目，为新生们展示了广阔的国际视野。鼓励新同学珍惜在特莱恩工学院的学习机会，为未来的职业生涯奠定坚实的基础。

Jenson Jiang made an in-depth introduction to Trine University in terms of development history, hardware, education and teaching, employment characteristics, etc. He also elaborated on the teaching philosophy and international cooperation programs of the University, demonstrating a broad international vision for the new students. He encouraged the new students to cherish the opportunity to study at Trine Engineering Institute and lay a solid foundation for their future careers.

外籍教师代表Mary分享了在特莱恩工学院的教学体验，鼓励学生要勇于提问，敢于创新，珍惜与国际师生的交流学习机会，激发追求卓越、勇于探索的勇气与决心。

Mary, a representative of foreign teachers, shared her teaching experience at Trine Engineering Institute. She encouraged students to ask questions, dare to be creative, and cherish the exchange and learning opportunities with international teachers and students to inspire their courage and determination in pursuit of excellence and exploration.

白海清将学院精心准备的礼包赠送给新生代表手中，并为他们佩戴上了象征荣誉与责任的校徽。这温馨的一幕，让新生们感受到了来自学校的浓浓关怀与期望。

Bai Haiqing presented the Institute's well-prepared gift bags to the new student representatives and put on the school emblem, which symbolizes honor and responsibility, for them. This sweet scene left the new students with strong care and expectations from the Institute.

2022级学生代表郭昊宇同学回顾了两年来的成长经历，并激励学弟学妹们勇于追梦；2024级新生代表李金聪同学则表达了对大学生活的向往与憧憬，两位同学的发言引起了强烈的共鸣。

Guo Haoyu, the representative of 2022 students, reviewed his growth experience over the past two years and inspired the younger siblings to pursue their dreams. Li Jincong, the representative of 2024 freshmen, expressed his aspiration and longing for university life, and the speeches of the two students were shared by strong resonance.

随后，各专业新生代表同台抒发心怀，带领全场新生“誓言同声起，青春共挺膺”，共同颂读《向青春宣誓》。每一位新生承诺将以实际行动践行青春誓言，彰显出青春的力量与担当。他们的声音响彻整个礼堂，将典礼再次推向高潮。

After that, the freshmen representatives of all majors shared their feelings on the same stage, leading all the freshmen to “Take the Same Oath for Shared Youth” and jointly read the “Oath to Youth”(《向青春宣誓》). Every single new student committed themselves to fulfilling the youthful oath with practical actions, mirroring the power and responsibility of youth. Their voices resounded throughout the auditorium, bringing the Ceremony to another climax.

朱智鸿在总结讲话中，希望2024级新同学们要牢记王磊校长的深情寄语，秉承“明德、砺志、博学、笃行”的校训，珍惜韶华，励志奋斗，追求卓越，努力成为胸怀祖国又放眼世界的高素质应用型人才。

To conclude, Zhu Zhihong hoped that the 2024 new students would bear in mind President Wang Lei's heartfelt words, adhering to the university motto of “Virtue, Ambition, Erudition, and Diligence”. That will mean cherishing the glorious youth to work hard in pursuit of excellence, striving to be high-quality applied talents with a heart devoted to the motherland and a global vision.

The Ceremony was topped off with the “group photo on the cloud”, which featured all the teachers and students building this unforgettable moment and recorded the unlimited expectations and good wishes of Trine's students for the future.
